Many Birmingham Council services are now devolved to a local level and as a result, are more responsive to local needs. Each ward is also given an amount of £100,000 Community Chest funding which can be used for any project which will benefit the Ward. Freinds of Hill Hook Local Nature Reserve have sucessfully accessed the Community Chest fund and utilised funding to enhance the Local Nature Reserve, in response to local needs. The work at Hill Hook Local Nature Reserve is an outstanding example of how local people are able to influence their area. |
